Desired in mixes and in 'live' gigs, the Renaissance Bass (or RBass) is a plugin that uses psychoacoustic effects to add low-frequency sub-harmonics to the channel and is ideal for adding 'weight' to basses and drums. According to the manufacturer:
"When you need your bass to be heard even on a laptop or mobile device, Renaissance Bass is your best friend. Using Waves’ patented MaxxBass® psychoacoustic technology, R-Bass accurately reproduces low-frequency content on playback systems that cannot physically handle these signals. This is achieved by the creation of harmonics of the fundamental, which fool the brain into perceiving bass frequencies that are not actually there."
To download this plugin go to the Waves Audio website using this link. Log in to your Waves account, take a short 6-question survey, install or open Waves Central, and install it. The plug-in runs on Mac and PC in VST, AU and AAX.
